A one-and-a-half-hour drive along a fully paved road will take you to Tiwanaku, known as the “Cradle of American Civilization.” This archaeological site is among the oldest in Andean cultures, and its remains are remarkable for their monumentality and the perfection of their construction and decorative techniques. The visit includes the Tiwanaku Museums and various ruins such as the Akapana Pyramid, Kalasasaya Temple, the Gate of the Sun, the Fraile and Ponce monoliths, Puma Punku, and the semi-subterranean temple.
You will also have the opportunity to observe local craftsmanship: small, carefully carved stones modeled after monoliths, Tiwanaku and Aymara amulets, as well as finely crafted pottery including ceremonial vessels, incense burners, replicas of the Gate of the Sun, and more. Lunch included. Return transfer to the city of La Paz.
Includes: Private transportation La Paz–Tiwanaku–La Paz, bilingual guide (Spanish–English), entrance fees, and lunch.
